Nessebar holds such fond memories for me from my childhood. I couldn't wait for my grandmother to come and pick me up, and then we would spend the whole summer together in Nessebar. We usually traveled on the night train, and as soon as we got to our compartment, I wanted to eat as I would be starving. I don't know why, but as soon as the train started, I got hungry. I remember the chilly mornings when the train would arrive at the station in Burgas — the seagulls, the smell of the sea mixed with the smells of the trains, and waiting at the bus stop. The buses were always packed, and I would sit on the luggage, looking at people's clothes and shoes, the bags and luggage, and the floor of the bus. When we traveled by car, I was always afraid of the steep cobblestone street that led to our house. I would hold on tight to the front seat, squeeze my eyes shut, and feel a great fear that at the end of the street we wouldn't be able to turn and would fall into the sea. There's no way that's going to happen now - at least because the sea is much further away now that they've filled in enormous amount of ground for the harbour and car park.
